Shopify maintenance: a developer who knows your theme, on hand after launch.

Shopify keeps the platform running; nobody keeps your theme running. Theme updates that overwrite customisations, apps that stack scripts until the store crawls, Liquid deprecations, checkout changes on Plus, a Markets setup that drifted from what you sell - these arrive after launch and nobody owns them. Maintenance is the arrangement where someone does.

What Shopify maintenance covers

The list is short because the platform does the rest, but every item on it is the kind that quietly costs conversions for months before anyone notices.

  • Theme: version updates merged without losing customisations, sections kept editable, deprecations handled before they break
  • Apps: a periodic audit of what is installed, what it loads on every page, and what can go
  • Speed: Core Web Vitals on real templates, tracked, with the regressions traced to their cause
  • SEO hygiene: canonicals, structured data, redirects and hreflang re-checked after every theme or Markets change
  • Plus specifics: checkout extensibility, Flow, B2B configuration kept in step with Shopify’s changes
  • A person: one developer who knows the store, on the other end of the message

Why this is not the same as Shopify support

Shopify’s own support helps with the platform and will not touch your theme code. Theme developers support their theme and will not touch your customisations. App vendors support their app and blame the theme. The gap between those three is where most live-store problems sit, and it is the gap this arrangement fills.

How it is arranged

Some stores need a standing monthly arrangement, some need a developer on call, and agencies usually need both across several client stores. There is deliberately no package on this site: tell me what you run and what keeps going wrong, and I will propose something shaped like your store.

Questions people ask first

Can you maintain a theme someone else built?
Yes, that is the usual case. It starts with a look at the theme code and the app list so we both know what is there.
Do you handle theme updates from the theme vendor?
Yes. The customisations are kept in a way that survives updates where possible, and merged by hand where not, on a duplicate theme first.
Is this available to agencies for their client stores?
Yes, white-label, the same way the SEO work already runs for two agencies.
What if something breaks right now?
Write with the store URL and what is happening. If it is something I can look at quickly, I will say so.
